Please come along and support us in 2008.  We are happy that SEC Asbestos are continuing their sponsorship during 2008.

Dorset CCC are looking forward to the 2008 season; hopefully the weather will be better than last summer and we also get a fully fit squad to select from. There have been a few changes to the management, coaching and playing staff during the winter. Firstly, the Committee has appointed Alan Willows as 1st XI Coach. Wills is a former Sussex CCC and Dorset CCC all-rounder and he represented the County between 1990 and 1997. He is the Director of Cricket at Sherborne School, he has an infectious personality, is driven for Dorset to succeed and his appointment will benefit Dorset Cricket as a whole. Tom Hicks will continue as Captain, with Chris Park as his vice-captain. Ken House will be taking up the position of Cricket Chairman, replacing David Graham, and Barry Lewis will takes over Ken's former position of County Secretary.

The 1st XI and Development XI squads have been working together during the winter; we have had 5 sessions at Bryanston School and the guys have committed themselves well putting in a lot of hard work both technical and physical. Our focus this year has been to practice with intensity in order that we can take that onto the pitch and hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Dorset CCC are pleased to announce that Hampshire batsman Jimmy Adams has agreed to play for them in this years Minor Counties One Day Competition. The 27 year old left-handed batsman will open the batting and bring class and stability to Dorset's batting line up. Adams played one competitive game for Dorset back in 1998 against Somerset Board XI in the ECB Board XI Competition before joining Hampshire. He made his debut for the County back in 2002, having represented England at Under 15 and Under 19 levels. He was named Hampshire Young Player of the Year in 1998 and struck his maiden first-class hundred for Loughborough University, whom he captained in 2003. Jimmy will be linking up again with Alan Willows who was his coach at Sherborne School.

Jimmy will play for Dorset when his Hampshire commitments allow and we are hopeful that he will be available for at least 3 out of our 4 group matches. This is a major coup for Dorset CCC; Jimmy is a very talented cricketer and he can make a big contribution to the side, both on and off the field. We feel his experience of First Class cricket will benefit everyone associated with the County.

This goes to show that Dorset CCC are very ambitious in our aims for the season, we want to be challenging for the top in both the one day and three day competitions, the players have been working hard all winter and have impressed Alan with the talent in the squad. We cant wait for the season to get started.
